Pest and Disease Image Library (PaDIL)
A great site for information on, and great high quality colour images of, the most serious pest threats to Aussie beekeepers, including Varroa mites, Tropilaelaps mites, the acarine mite and Asian honeybees.
Atlas of Living Australia (ALA)
This is another great site and rapidly developing into one of the best sites for knowledge on any particular animal or plant species in Australia (that’s some achievement). Simply plug in name of the bee you want to find out about, and it will take you to multiple layers of information. You can also submit you own information to help build on the information.
The Australasian Beekeeper (ABK)
This site is now run by the Cannons (retired – or so they say – commercial beekeepers). You’ll have to subscribe to buy the magazine (ABK), but it’s a great place to find out what’s on and what’s news in the Aussie beekeeping scene.
American Bee Journal (ABJ)
You’ll have to subscribe to read the journal, but its still a good place to keep up with what’s happening with bees in the US of A.
The UK-based International Bee Research Association (IBRA)
Said to be the world’s longest established publishers of practical beekeeping information, and probably right. It’s a good place to find out what’s happening with bees in the UK and Europe and also allows free open access to some good publications.
Australian Native Bee Research Centre (ANBRC)
Another great site run, by Ann and Les Dollin. One can find here some great information on, and rare photos of, our fragile Aussie native bees, including a new species of stingless bee, Austroplebeia cincta.
The Wheen Bee Foundation
The Wheen Bee Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation, with a mission to improve national food security by striving to ensure a viable and prosperous beekeeping industry. The Wheen Bee Research Foundation is collecting donations on behalf of Bees Downunder.
